Last week, our team attended Security and Policing 2021 to exhibit VML Technology and discuss data privacy and security within video. Security & Policing is the official Government global security event, offering a world-class opportunity to meet, network and discuss the latest advances in delivering national security and resilience.
This year’s three-day online event gave nearly 10,000 Home Office approved attendees access to an innovative, digital event experience from the comfort and safety of their own workspace. Here are our key takeaways:
Evidently security and data were the focal point of the event; with increasing new regulations such as GDPR, CCPA and LGPD, many organisations are evaluating how they use, store and protect their data. The growing importance of compliance has resulted in the need for innovative new technologies and digital transformation with many organisations seeking solutions to solve all data regulation concerns. Attendees agreed that remote working made monitoring data compliance increasingly challenging, that's why VML Platform's full digital audit and compliance checks at all stages of the video life cycle were a welcome topic of conversation.
Another key topic at Security and Policing 2021 was education and e-learning. Virtually all organisations are looking at ways to communicate internally and externally with students and staff. With online training playing such a huge role in today's world, the need for the delivery of training and tracking of progress is key. VML Player's interactive video was recognised as a comprehensive solution for providing an engaging, informative training experience while recording an individual's progress.
Video has become the number one medium for communication, and we can see that communicating via video online, while ensuring data privacy is fundamental for many organisation. The surge in insecure video communication tools means that organisations have to be extra diligent when communicating online.End-to-end encryption was identified as a key requirement for video meeting software to ensure secure communication while protecting the security of staff and students.
Given the effectiveness and efficiency of the event we have no doubt that virtual conferences are here to stay. The ability for organisations across the UK to network, access on-demand content, connect with like-minded businesses and share thoughts from the comfort of their own workspace was invaluable. While it was commented that many professionals miss the face to face aspect of traditional exhibitions, video conferencing has helped bridge this gap enormously for real-time connection.
We recognise data and security is an increasingly important issue for organisations, and that's why we are here to empower organisations to continue to communicate via video in a secure environment.
